56 DUI ARRESTS
SANTA BARBARA COUNTY - DECEMBER 22nd, 2011
Santa Barbara County, CA – Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs and California Highway Patrol Officers arrested 56 people on suspicion of DUI during the first 6 days of the ‘AVOID the 12’ 17-day winter mobilization period in Santa Barbara County, which began on Friday December 16th, compared to 53 arrested during the same period last year.
“We know that our enforcement efforts are having a good effect, but there are still some drivers who are not getting the message and make the bad decision to drink and drive. It is not only a bad decision, it is a criminal act,” commented Sgt. Kevin Huddle of the Santa Barbara Sheriff’s Office.
“Thankfully, since the start of the mobilization period, no one has been killed in a DUI related collision in Santa Barbara County.”
Funding for this program was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
