LOMPOC P.D. DUI / Drivers License Checkpoint Nets 6 Arrests

The Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Sunday September 5, 2010 as part of Lompoc’s commitment to public safety. This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Lompoc. The location of the checkpoint was in the 400 block of east Ocean Avenue (SR 246)" for west bound traffic. The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing unlicensed and impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:
Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold 5
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint 400 (approximately)
Miscellaneous traffic stops/citations 18
Narcotics paraphernalia arrest 1 (also under the influence of drugs, was a passenger)
Under the influence of drugs arrest 2 (1 was a passenger, 1 was a driver)
Drivers evaluated for D.U.I 19 (These drivers were drinking but under legal limit and not arrested)
Driving on a suspended license 5 (1 driver had a $50,000 DUI warrant for a previous DUI arrest & another driver was under the influence of drugs)
