LOMPOC P.D. DUI / Drivers License Checkpoint Nets 5 Arrests

LOMPOC- SEPTEMBER 1st, 2010

The Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI/Drivers License Checkpoint on Tuesday August 31, 2010 as part of Lompoc’s commitment to public safety.  This checkpoint was one of many that have been or will be conducted throughout the year in Lompoc. The location of the checkpoint was in the 300 block of west College Ave for west bound traffic.   The goal of the DUI Checkpoint was removing unlicensed and impaired drivers and to bring awareness to the public of the dangers of driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol. 

The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:

Driving without a drivers license                         1

Driving on a suspended license                           4           

Vehicles towed for a 30-day hold                        4

Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint                350 (approximately)

Miscellaneous traffic stops/citations                  12

D.U.I. arrest                                                         1

Drivers evaluated for D.U.I                                10 (These drivers were drinking but under the legal limit and not arrested)
