LOMPOC P.D. DUI CHECKPOINT RESULTS

LOMPOC- April 15th, 2009

The Lompoc Police Department is dedicated to keeping our roadways safe through both enforcement and education.  On Saturday 4-11-09 the Lompoc Police Department conducted a DUI / Drivers License checkpoint in the 2000m block of North “H” Street. The purpose of the checkpoint was not only to detect and arrest drivers under the influence of alcohol / drugs, but also locate drivers who were unlicensed, as well as remind everyone of the dangers of impaired driving. 

 The following charges/arrests were made during the checkpoint:

Driving without a drivers license arrest                   3           
Driving on a suspended license arrest                     4                         
Drivers evaluated for sobriety (D.U.I)                   25 These people were under the legal limit
Drivers evaluated for illegal drug use                      1
Vehicles towed    for a 30-day hold                          7
Vehicles passing thru the checkpoint                    1525
Arrest for lying to an officer                                     2
Miscellaneous citations                                             5

Funding for this DUI checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
